Whether classic or skating, it just works on perfectly groomed routes. Cross-country skiers in the Ötztal will make another discovery: all cross-country trails and public transport are available free of charge. The right equipment is available at the sports rental shop, and a wide range of courses ensures the right technology.
Even at the entrance to the Ötztal it is easy and in top conditions: the easy trail loop in Ochsengarten leads along snow-covered, meter-high spruce forests and clearings towards Kühtai. It continues into the valley. Umhausen-Niederthai is the Mecca of cross-country skiing in the Ötztal. 12 rounds of various levels of difficulty in front of an ingenious landscape backdrop justify this status.
The generous loops over 40 kilometers along the wide valley floor in Längenfeld show a completely different Ötztal – expansive and gentle. The view is directed from the white fields into the valley up to the Gamskogel, the majestic mountain of the Längenfelder. Also a natural experience: slide along the Sulztal in Gries on the narrow boards.
From here it goes up into the mountains. Because hard to believe, but true, passionate runners will even find their routes in Sölden, Vent and Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. There is no guarantee of snow. Because even if it is already spring in the valley, the athletes can still do their laps.
Our tip for true fans: the night trails in Längenfeld, Umhausen and Niederthai. Längenfeld and Niederthai even offer a free biathlon trial, where everyone can try their hand at the shooting range. Here you can find the detailed cross-country skiing routes including information on duration, route and altitude profile.
